Project 83 SOLAR SYSTEM ST-FRANCIS COLLEGE, KYANAMIRA, OUGANDA

This project is about generating electricity from a solar system. In fact, the electricity supply from the public company is not reliable. That's why, given the electricity needs of Saint-Francis College in Kyanamira, we realized the absolute need to have a solar power source that can ensure the smooth running of the school, especially for the students.

In case of a power outage, they can no longer access the computer room for their practical work. Also, at night, when the electricity supplied by the government is cut off, the students cannot study. Moreover, Saint Francis College of Kyanamira is the only secondary school in our new parish of the Diocese of Kabale: the Saint Francis of Assisi Parish of Kyanamira. This school is located in a semi-rural area, not far from the town of Kabale, in western Uganda. It is a co-educational institution offering both ordinary and higher level education, with boarding and day school options. It is also part of the universal secondary education framework and universal post-secondary education and training. The establishment has six buildings, namely the main building housing the administrative offices and the computer room, the laboratory, the boys' dormitory, and the girls' dormitory.
Regarding the staff, the establishment currently has three hundred and eighty students who are supervised by 34 qualified teachers and 18 support staff members.
The local community, particularly the parents' committee, is involved in this project by contributing locally. To date, four million Ugandan shillings (4,000,000 UGX) have been raised for this purpose. This corresponds to one thousand four hundred and eighty-seven Canadian dollars (1,487 CAD).
However, the amount we are requesting through your generosity is twenty-six thousand Canadian dollars (26,000 CAD).
A thousand thanks for your help.
