BURKINA FASO
100 years of the parish of Pabré
Hilaire Guinko, a 49-year-old Burkinabé, Elysée Bama, another 34-year-old Burkinabé, and Théogène Nibogora, a 40-year-old Burundian, strive to meet the spiritual and human needs of the entire population of Kasota, Tanzania, which has about 30,000 inhabitants, mostly farmers. These three young missionaries from Africa share their daily lives with the people of this town.
The Catholic Church Notre-Dame, Queen of Africa, is the only place of worship in this town. Unfortunately, the only available water source is the river, which makes access and transportation difficult, requiring the use of jerrycans and considerable physical effort. During the dry season, water supply becomes even more challenging. How can one survive without water, not just for drinking and cooking, but also for washing, doing laundry, and caring for animals? Although the parish has a water reserve of about a thousand liters, it proves insufficient to meet the urgent needs of the community when it organizes training seminars for Christian community leaders. In addition, the parish is located near the road and regularly welcomes a large number of travelers as well as the entire population during weekly market days.
Our missionaries are asking for your help to dig a well that will provide drinking water for their needs and for about a hundred nearby household farms. This effort also aims to promote harmony among the residents, about 45% of whom are Christian, and 55% are Muslim or practice traditional African religions.
