Project 56: A school to combat illiteracy and early marriage of girls

We present to you a four classroom construction project for St. Mary's Kindergarten and Primary School in the Kikyamuzi region of Uganda.

Sainte-Marie Nursery and Primary School opened in 2018. It is located in the remote Kikyamuzi region of Kakumiro district in Uganda. The idea to launch this project came from the popular will to overcome important challenges such as the high level of illiteracy, the early marriage of young girls, the high percentage of HIV AIDS and the lack of a good school in the region.

To date, two hundred children are in school, religions and tribal origins combined. Thanks to local contributions, three classrooms have already been built, although they are only so-called temporary structures. These constructions do not allow children to study properly.

In addition, there is a complementary drinking water supply project. The objective is therefore to promote the education of young children in appropriate facilities and to ensure access to safe water.

We thank you for your generosity in helping us.
